    Lacquer/Painted

This type of finish is suitable for indoor and outdoor use. However it is worth noting that while outside the item is exposed to harmful elements such as water and exhaust fumes. Wipe clean with a gentle detergent as part of your regular cleaning.

    Copper/Brass/Bronze

Copper and it's alloys (brass and bronze are copper mixed with varying amounts of zinc, tin, phosphoros and others) will tarnish when exposed to air. When exposed to water a green patina will begin to form. This can be very diserable or to be avoided. If the latter then make sure your copper is kept dry. To remove the tarnishing a little rub with some Brasso will keep your item gleaming.

    Stainless steel

Stainless is far more resistant to corrosion (rust) than ordinary steel or iron. This is due to the addition of chrome and nickel into the alloy. However when exposed to air and water it will eventually begin to rust. For outdoor items there are good stainless steel cleaners which if used regularly will keep your item beautiful. Clean anything corrosive (like bird poo) off immediately.

    Hot-Oil Finish

This is black looking finish we apply to most of our traditional-looking steel products. It is achieved by heating the steel to just below red-hot and applying oil/wax with a cloth. Do not try this one at home - you will get burnt! This finish is suitable for indoors only. Wipe clean and do not submerge in water. If the finish becomes dull some furniture wax will brighten it up beautifully.
